the beginning

i was a girl scout. i was in daisies, brownies, and juniors. i'm an alumnae.

now what?

story time!

a few years ago, 2003, i had just spent part of the weekend watching "troop beverly hills," a great movie about scouting. this was probably saturday. on monday in my rat pack lit class, i talked about this with classmates who had also watched the movie. the next day, i was still thinking about scouting and wishing i could go back and earn more, if not all of the, patches available from juniors to, at that time, cadettes and seniors.

i was sitting at a light, after i'd gotten off work at a twice a month Bible study at my church where i babysat the kids of the moms who were there, and i got a completely brilliant idea- i could earn all the patches on my own.

i got a troop number (my zipcode at the time- 76203), numbers, patches, books, and all. yes, i do have all the patches. plus a lot of fun ones. and pins. and loads of other stuff. or at least a little bit of other stuff. i even got the scouts cookbook just yesterday.

and that's when, just yesterday, i decided to go ahead with my plan to earn the patches. i don't really care if i'm 28 and almost 11 months old. i don't care that, even if i fulfill all the requirements, i can't actually earn the gold, bronze, and silver awards (i have the patches, so hey).

i think it'll be fun. it will definately be an interesting journey. long, too. well, only if i make it that.
